“Missio” in Latin means a mission. And what once began as a side project for singer-songwriter Matthew Brue has become his main mission. Accompanied by producer and instrumentalist David Butler, the Texas-based Missio project fuses electronics with hip-hop rhythms and atmospheric and expressive surfaces. Missio has been on the scene since 2017, with the great success of their second full-length album The Darker the Weather // The Better the Man (2019), which not only gained them a huge number of plays and new fans on streaming platforms, but also the release of the single Sing to me for the gaming phenomenon Death Stranding. Missio has supported MUSE, 30 Seconds to Mars, Yungblud, and K. Flay. The duo has also performed at major festivals such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, Firefly, Hangout, Bottle Rock, and Voodoo Fest.

Missio are very well known to Rock for People fans. They put on one of the best shows of 2019, and were scheduled to return to the Czech Republic in March 2020, only to have a ban on shows with over 100 people announced an hour before the tour bus arrived at Prague’s Rock Café. The band then went to Warsaw, where they were again cancelled, only to fly to Kiev and find they had 36 hours to return to the States. An adventure you don’t want to have a second time.
As one of the headliners, they returned for a scaled-down version of Rock for People Hope in 2021, where they put on a great show and fulfilled the high expectations of all their domestic fans.
