Say hello to the new kids on the block. Valeras, part of a long lineage of buzz-worthy Reading bands are here and about to take the UK’s rock scene by storm.
Previously playing under the moniker Area 52, the band enjoyed early hype from the likes of Huw Stephens, Clara Amfo and Alice Levine and 6music’s Tom Robinson with multiple big live shows under their belt including appearances at Live At Leeds, Stag And Dagger and Reading Festival. VALERAS decided on a name change and went into the studio late last year with bonafide hit-maker Larry Hibbitt, previously of Hundred Reasons fame and most recently achieving chart-topping success producing Sundara Karma, Nothing But Thieves, Marmozets and many more. The result is stunning – a fresh new take on alternative British guitar music capped with a killer vocal performance by soon-to-be rock hero Rose Yagmur.
Keeping the scene alive in their home town of Reading, the band are budding gig promoters and have started running their own 14+ concert series – very entrepreneurial for a gang mostly still in school. Building somewhat of a cult fanbase in Reading, and following in the success-proven footsteps of fellow local stars Sundara Karma and The Amazons, Valeras are sure to be the answer to the next generation of indie kids.
